TWO RAMSOM'S IN DUBAI

Racing in Dubai this week has seen the late Red Ransom (pictured left) sire two notable winners in consecutive days. Rock N Roll Ransom won the Evidenza Handicap on Thursday at Meydan, while Emmrooz won the Jebel Ali Stales (L) today (14th January).

What is notable is that both these winners are bred on crosses which have given both Red Ransom and his Roberto sire-line plenty of success.

Rock N Roll Ransom, who is out of Zafonic’s Prix de Opera (Gr 1) winner, Zee Zee Top, from the family of Reprocolor, is bred on a Mr Prospector cross. The Red Ransom (includes his sons)/Mr Prospector cross has produced 19 stakes winners which includes the Gr 2 winner Intikhab. The Roberto/Mr Prospector has produced a total of over 100 stakes winners of which 16 are Gr 1 winners and include Hollywood Wildcat (Kris S), Dr Fong (Kris S), Film Maker (Dynaformer), Lear’s Princess (Lear Fan) and the recent Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Blame (Dynaformer).

Emmrooz is out of the Danehill daughter, Nasmatt, who is a three-quarter-sister to the Gr 3 winner Kheleyf (Green Desert). (Indecently Nasmatt’s six-year-old half-brother Otaared won the second race on today’s Jebel Ali card giving the Society Lady family a double). Red Ransom has sired three stakes winners out of Danehill daughters which includes his Australian Gr 1 winner, Red Dazzler. With other Gr 1 winners bred on a Roberto/Danehill cross including Art Connoisseur (Lucky Story) and Headway (Charge Forward, a son of Red Ransom) it is not surprising that that the Roberto line has also had plenty of success with other Danzig lines. The Roberto line has sired nearly 50 stakes winners on the Danzig cross which includes the Super Derby (Gr 1) winner and useful sire, Arch (Kris S). CWC
