DANSILI ALL THE RAGE

It has certainly been an incredible week for the Juddmonte Farms resident, Dansili (Danehill), having sired not only the most sensational King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes (Gr 1) winner for some time, with Harbinger (pictured), but the son of Danehill also sired three other stakes winners during the week starting 19th July.

The fact that Dansili has sired yet another top class 12 furlong performer is, to me, not at all surprising. Dansili himself was best at four-year when winning Prix du Muguet (Gr 2) and being crowned joint top rated older miler in Europe in 2000. However Dansili is out of the remarkable broodmare, Hasili (Kahysi) is also own or ¾-brother to five Grade 1 winners which include Bank Hill (Danehill), Heat Haze (Green Desert), Intercontinental (Danehill), Cacique (Danehill) and Champs Elysees (Danehill). With the exception Banks Hill most of Dansili sibling became better with age and also be leading stakes winners over a trip further than a mile. Therefore it is not all surprising that Dansili leading stakes winners not only improve with age but also with an increase in trip. As a result his stakes winners include the likes of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Gr 1) winner Rail Link, Grand Prix de Paris (Gr 1) winner, Zamebzi Sun and Passage Of Time, who won the Criterium de Saint-Cloud (Gr 1) before winning the Musidora Stakes (Gr 3). this is not to say that Dansili has not sired top-class milers as he has produced number of Gr 1 winning milers including Price Tag and Provisio.

It is because of this that Dansili’s first two stakes winners of last wee were you’re your usual type of Dansili stakes winners. The first stakes winner of the week was a six furlong Listed winner when the three-year-old, Bewitched, won her second stakes race of the year when winning the Sweet Mimosa Stakes (L) at the Curragh. Dansili next two sakes winner was the following evening at the Ireland’s Leopardstown meeting when Zoffany won the Tyros Stakes (Gr 3) for two-year-olds over 7 furlongs. Although this is far from Dansili’s first juvenile stakes (his first was Early March (Gr 3) in 2005, an own-brother to recent 10f Musidora Stakes (Gr 3) Aviate!) it is one of few. The Juddmonte home-bred Famous Name was winning his eighth stakes race when taking Meld Stakes (Gr 3) over nine furlongs. The five-year-old, Famous Name, is typical Dansili stakes winner having improved with age and winning up to 10 furlongs.

It is fair to say that Dansili is enjoying a fantastic year having sired twelve stakes winners during this year so far. These stakes winners also include US duel Grade 1 winner Proviso as well as Royal Ascot Windsor Forest Stakes (Gr 1) winner, Strawberrydaiquiri. What is interesting is that the nearest sire in Europe to Dansili is Oasis Dream (Green Desert), who has sired 11 Group/Grade stakes winner, is also an inmate at Juddmonte Farms’ Banstead Manor in Newmarket.
